A Fluffle in the Office
Quorum Park’s Small But Mighty Role in Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne
It is no secret that Quorum Park is a supporter of local art and good causes, but for the last few months, one of its office suites has been harbouring a massive, adorable secret: a "fluffle" of just under 100 bunnies.
Starting today, July 15th, the region officially welcomes Peter Rabbit™: Tales on the Tyne, a brand-new, free art trail raising vital funds for St Oswald’s Hospice. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the hospice, creative producers Wild in Art, and The World of Peter Rabbit™.
For the fourth consecutive time, Quorum Park was overjoyed to partner with St Oswald’s Hospice by handing over the keys to an empty office suite in Q15. The space was transformed into a bustling storage and painting hub where artists brought the lovable Beatrix Potter characters to life.
Following the epic transformation, Q15 hosted an exclusive VIP launch event. Artists introduced their individual "Peters" to sponsors and charity partners while enjoying a grazing board from Crackers 4 Cheese and custom "Tales on the Tyne" cupcakes baked by Harlo Bakes.
Among the notable designs painted on-site is The Dream by artist Darren Mundy, which beautifully captures the North East's beloved, historic Sycamore Gap spot.
“Staff at Quorum Park have got used to the sight of the fluffy visitors coming and going, as the office park kindly loaned us one of their empty office suites to use as a storage and painting space,” said Hannah Wood, Fundraising Project Co-ordinator at St Oswald’s Hospice. “This is the fourth St Oswald’s Hospice art trail the team has supported in this way, and we can’t thank them enough for temporarily housing our fluffle and keeping them safe ahead of it officially beginning.”
Claire Lusk, Events Manager at Quorum Park, shared her emotional connection to the project:
“I started at the park just as the Elmers [sculptures] were leaving for auction, and I remember walking into the space housing them, and thinking 'Wow, what an amazing thing to be a part of!' Here we are today, four trails later, and I am so glad we've been able to be a part of them all. Each time I get a little bit more attached, and reluctant to let them go! But St Oswald’s Hospice feels like part of the Quorum family, and we’re always so excited to support it in whatever way we can, and celebrate the joy the trail brings to people young and old across the region.”
The impact of these trails is monumental. St Oswald's Hospice, which provides essential end-of-life care and community support from its Gosforth base, raised over £300,000 from its previous art trail. There is a chance to see the bunnies back at Quorum Park this autumn for a brief farewell display. After that, they will head to a grand gala auction event at the Newcastle Civic Centre on October 13th, where lucky buyers will bid to take a piece of the trail home permanently.
