🌼 #QGrow March: Global Rewilding Day & Pollinator Prep

Spring is on the horizon, and March is the perfect month to get our green spaces ready for wildlife and pollinators. At Quorum Park, we’re celebrating Global Rewilding Day on 20th March by inviting tenants, staff, and volunteers to roll up their sleeves and help nature thrive.

🐝 Why Rewilding Matters

Rewilding isn’t just about leaving areas untouched — it’s about restoring habitats, boosting biodiversity, and supporting local wildlife. Early spring is critical for pollinators, who are emerging hungry after winter. By planting flowers, creating shelter, and sowing native species, we can give them a strong start to the season.

🌱 What You Can Do This March

1. Pop-Up Seed Swap & Info Sessions

We’re making it easy for everyone to get involved:

📍 Neon Building – Wednesday 18th March
📍 #QGrow Allotment – Friday 20th March (Global Rewilding Day!)

Pick up pollinator-friendly and native wildflower seeds, learn how to rewild your own space, and get practical tips for creating wildlife-friendly habitats at home or in the office. Bring a few seeds to swap if you have extras — sharing is caring!

2. Sow Pollinator-Friendly Wildflowers

Early sowings provide nectar for bees, hoverflies, and butterflies. Perfect options for North East UK:

  • Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)

  • Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus)

  • Red Campion (Silene dioica)

  • Field Scabious (Knautia arvensis)

Tip: Scatter seeds thinly on prepared soil, lightly rake, and water gently. Many will overwinter naturally and bloom throughout spring and summer.

3. Refresh or Build Wildlife Habitats

  • Log piles – perfect for beetles, hedgehogs, and frogs.

  • Bug hotels or insect bricks – provide early shelter for pollinators and beneficial insects.

  • Leave seed heads and leaf litter – seeds feed birds, and leaves provide cover for insects.

4. Prepare Early Flowering Bulbs

Plant or check early nectar-rich bulbs:

  • Crocus

  • Snowdrops

  • Hellebores

These flowers support pollinators that are active as soon as the weather warms.

🌍 Why Join Us?

  • Support pollinators and biodiversity – your efforts directly help bees, butterflies, and other wildlife.

  • Connect with the Quorum community – meet fellow green thumbs, swap seeds, and share tips.

  • Make a visible impact – early sowings and habitats planted in March will bloom and flourish all season.

Whether you’re joining us for a one-off session, a pop-up event, or ongoing volunteer days, every action helps rewild, grow, and protect nature at Quorum Park.
