New eatery brings taste of Italy to Quorum

A new Italian kitchen has opened its doors to the Quorum community and is hoping to expand its team over the coming weeks.

Circo has become the newest member of the business community at the retail parade on Quorum Park – a modern Italian eatery that is sister to Davey’s Breakfast & Sandwiches, which opened its doors in Low Fell three years ago and has since gone on to become one of the region’s favourite food spots.

With plans to expand Davey’s into Newcastle city centre early next year, co-owner of both brands, Rob West explained: “After the success of Davey’s, my business partner David Milburn and I discovered there was a gap for an Italian kitchen that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and spent some time developing a menu featuring all the favourites we feel people want, such as huge cheese-pull pizzas and giant chicken parmos.

“Then, when we found out there was a unit available at Quorum Park, we knew we had to get involved. We know a few people who work on the park and have heard loads about its modern, fun and inclusive work environment, making it a great location from which to launch Circo.”

So far, 20 jobs have been created in Circo’s kitchen department, and 15 people make up the front-of-house team, but Rob and David are still on the lookout for new recruits as the brand begins to grow.

Rob continued: “We’ve hired a team of experienced chefs from the likes of Miller & Carter, The Alchemist and more, and would like to ask anyone who would like to join the party to send a CV to us. We’d love to hear from them.”

Open daily between 11am and 10pm, Circo’s main menu, which can also be delivered via Uber Eats, includes pasta, pizzas, chicken parmos and sandwiches, as well as a range of thick gelato shakes that have so far proved popular, in flavours such as pistachio and chocolate, Italian vanilla, and indulgent Forrero Rocher.

However, the team are also developing a breakfast menu to complement this, which, once launched, will be available from 9am each day.

Claire Lusk, Events Manager at Quorum Park added: “We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Rob, David and the whole Circo team on behalf of Quorum Park.

“We pride ourselves on the variety of food and drink members of our onsite community can choose from on the park, and Circo’s fun and modern ethos is very much in keeping with our own.

“So far, we’ve heard amazing things about its existing menu, so we can’t wait to see what’ll be on offer for breakfast!”
